5 Core Strategies for Living Your Best Life

It is always a doozy when I am asked what one action would I recommend that could dramatically improve one’s life. My first thought is meditation. But then, I remember, not everyone can relate to my absolute love of meditation. On further reflection and research, I have landed on 5 core strategies that also happen to be the most advocated by many many wellness experts. These 5 would support anyone wanting to choose a life of wellness.

These 5 things if implemented on a daily basis will dramatically improve the quality of your life

  1. Connect with the Earth and each other
  2. Drink Pure Water and savour it
  3. Eat Good Food especially in joyful company when you can
  4. Stretch and Breathe preferably close to nature
  5. Meditate regularly

A little bit about each one of these suggestions

  1. In today’s world, sitting in front of a screen, wearing synthetic clothes and shoes, being bombarded by social media and health scares, or turning into a smartphone zombie, has led to a disconnect from the earth and nature. All ancient cultures revere the power of being in nature, connecting with the earth, walking barefoot, breathing in fresh air, looking up at the sky, tasting pure water, enjoying the warmth of being held, and marvelling at the elements. Our connection with the earth and each other reminds us of what it means to be truly alive. Here, present and accountable. This disconnect has a price, mainly to our health and sense of well-being. It is so easy to rectify. Get gardening without gloves, walk barefoot, touch the trees on your way to work, get an earthing sheet to rest in, hug yourself.
  1. Water is life and life is about flow. From the moment we are born to the moment we die, our journey is like that of a water droplet that melts with love, freezes in fear, rushes down waterfalls, rests in tranquil moments and dreams of giving and receiving. Dr Batmanhelidj’s outlines, in his extraordinary book “Your body’s many cries for water”, the breakthrough medical discovery, that if we drank more water daily degenerative diseases such as asthma, diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, heart disease, bulimia, Alzheimer’s disease and many other afflictions could be prevented and sometimes cured. Another one to easily implement, get a good water filter and drink water at regular intervals throughout the day. Another great book to lookout for is Masaru Emoto’s book, Hidden Messages in Water. It will transform your relationship with water. It’s all about the power of love and water (of course).
  1. Good Food and good company are definitely high on the feel good index. Organic, sustainably produced, free from pesticides and chemicals, made with love and then shared with love nourishes us deeply. This is not the easiest one to action. Food available in supermarkets is not of the best quality. There is much toxicity in the food chain. Do your best, get the best that you can afford. Saying a prayer and blessing the food can make a difference. It can transform your food from an ordinary repast to a sacred experience of gratitude and joy. There is no conclusive scientific evidence to support this (or maybe there is), I like to trust in my inner knowing. You can research this. There’s tons of YouTube videos of people experimenting with shouting expletives at apples and then singing love songs to their fruit. They then take pictures over a period of time and the results are always the same – Love makes food delicious.
  1. Our bodies are by nature dynamic, composed of the 5 elements, ether (space), air, fire, water, and earth, they love being stretched, walked, and breathed. If you don’t move the body, the mind gets fixated, and the breath becomes lifeless. Dancing, weight training, tennis, it doesn’t matter what activities you choose, whatever it is, enjoy it. It will make you feel good. It will help you become conscious of your breath. When practised in the spirit of gratitude, exercise will bring you into the present moment, relieve stress, release stagnant energy, help your lymph to shift toxins.

It is up to you to – Exercise your right!!

  1. And now to my favourite practice of all times. Meditation… Living my best life has not always been easy. In my 20s I struggled with addictions, chronic fatigue, lack of confidence, shame, to name a few. But a willingness to look in the mirror, face my fears, seek help, be creative has drawn miracles into my life. As I head towards my 55th birthday, I gather myself, all that I am, all that I have and give thanks. I bow in deep reverence to God, THAT has saved me from myself over and over again, so i can live to walk with others who are drawn to the song of unconditional Love and seek the absolute Truth. The most important discipline to get me here has been meditation. There are so many forms of meditation, as many pathways of meditation as there are human beings. This is a good thing, because meditation is an intimate practice that nurtures the relationship between you and Truth.  And this is unique to each person. Nowadays, my meditation is based on the LiberatingTouch guided visualisations and a simple “So-hum” breathing meditation. If you want to explore meditation with a LT Facilitator, you can find one here: https://liberatingtouch.com/truth-intuition-and-lt-facilitators/

I practice a host of other activities that help me maintain and sustain a joyful and compassionate life –

Devotional Singing

Being Creative

Practicing Jin Shin Jyutsu

Ingesting and applying Essential Oils

Detachment and self-awareness

Emotional Freedom Techniques

Reading and studying

Laughing and dancing

Forgiveness and letting go

And and and…

For me, living my best life means loving myself, loving you, loving creation and loving God. It’s miraculous. Love is God, i live in God.
